Archiving elements

Archiving elements

Not all elements are always relevant to be seen during the entire life cycle of a project (e.g. completed tasks, discarded requirements, former employees). Relatics offers the possibility to automatically archive elements if the corresponding type element has a life cycle property.

The archived state of an element

Relatics automatically changes an element to the archived state based on its life cycle property value. The power user has defined the property values for which an element needs to be archived. If a user changes the value of the lifecycle property, implying a change in the archived state, Relatics will automatically change the element’s archiving state.

Note:

  • The state an element will change to is shown behind the property value.

Identify archived elements

An archived element can be recognized by its icon. The icon of an archived element will look slightly more transparent than the original icon and it will be striked through.

Note:

  • In the recycle bin, archived elements cannot be recognized as such. All elements are visualized equally.

Switch between archive state views

By default, archived elements are not visible on the overview of the corresponding type element. Additionally, archived elements are hidden in relation tables on the detail view that presents an incoming relation. To view archived elements you can use the Switch archive state button. By pressing the button, you can toggle between three table views:

  • Live only: the table will not show archived elements.
  • Archived only: the table will only show archived elements.
  • Live or archived: the table will show both ‘live’ and archived elements.

Note:

  • On the overview, archived elements are always shown if they are related elements.
