A hierarchical derived type element is a special kind of derived type element that allows elements to be created recursively. There are two types of hierarchical configurations possible. The first configuration creates the elements as children of its origin element. In the second configuration, the elements and children are of the same type element so that recursion can be created. An example of the last configuration is a system breakdown structure (SBS). In addition to the default table views, a hierarchical derived type element has a tree view.
Create a hierarchical derived type element*
- Create a standard type element.
- Create a type relation of single cardinality originating from the just-created type element and set the to-element to this same type element.
- In the Type graphview, click on the just-created type element.
- In the toolbox, click on Edit.
- On the tab Advanced, change the field Configuration to Derived.
- On the tab Advanced, change the field Origin relation to the desired relation. The checkbox for Hierarchical is automatically active.
- Click on Update.
