To use the Relatics template function, a workspace must be designated as one that can produce templates. This template workspace can still be used as a normal workspace.
When the template workspace is sufficiently mature, the power user can create and publish the structure of the workspace as a template. The template workspace will continue to evolve and new updates to the template may be published and distributed.
What is a Relatics template
A Relatics template is the collection of the structure of a workspace, containing:
- The type model
- Views containing the All elements and use cases
- User roles
- Reports
Note:
- The elements containing the project data are not part of the template.
Enable a workspace to publish templates*
- In the overview with workspace tiles, click on Environment administration.
- In the view Environment administration, click on the menu Workspaces.
- Click on the workspace.
- Click on the button Enable publishing workspace as template.
Notes:
- Enabling template publication for a workspace can not be undone.
- In the Environment administration, in the Workspaces overview, it can be seen which workspaces are subscribed to a template and how many updates are available.
Publish a template version of your workspace**
- In the workspace menu, click on Workspace settings.
- Click on the menu Templates.
- Click on the button New template. This opens a new dialog Create template.
- In the field Name, give a unique name to the template.
- Optionally, tick the checkbox Postpone publish to publish the template at a later time.
- The field Changelog can be used to communicate model changes, for instance:
- The new, removed, or changed items.
- Update instructions.
- Click on the button Create to make the new version of the template available for connected workspaces.
Note:
- After creating a version of a template, no changes to this version can be made. Whether this template is published or not makes no difference.
- If a template version is not published, it is not available for the subscribed workspaces.
- Subsequent template versions cannot be published until the previous version is.
