Help users understand the model by using notes

Some parts of the systems engineering model in a workspace may need further clarification to help users create accurate data. A power user can, therefore, attach notes to type elements, type relations, and type properties.

Locate notes within the workspace

Some parts of the model may have been further clarified by notes left by a power user. These notes are recognizable by the information symbol. If you hover the mouse cursor over this symbol, a tooltip is shown with the note. Notes can be found in the following locations:

  • Notes attached to type elements can be found next to the name and element count in the overview.
  • Notes attached to type relations can be found in the relation table header on the detail view of a from-element.
  • Notes attached to a type property can be found next to the property name in the property table on the detail view of an element.

Create a new note*

  1. In the workspace menu, click on  Type graphview.
  2. Locate and click the type element, type relation, or type property.
  3. In the toolbox, click on Edit. As a result, the dialog Type relation settings is opened.
  4. In the dialog Type relation settings, click on Advanced.
  5. In the advanced tab, in the field under Note (optional) or Note in outgoing direction (optional), create a new note to inform users.
* In the workspace, the user type of your user must be set to power user to use this feature.
