Role-based access management allows a power user to define which model objects a user is allowed to view, edit, or create within a workspace. A role should be configured for users who share the same role within the project.
Add a role to a workspace *
- In the workspace menu, click on Workspace settings.
- Click on the menu Roles.
- Click on the button New role. This results in a new dialog.
- For the field Name, enter a unique name representing the role.
- For the field Preset for new types, select the most common permission for this role. The specified permission is applied to all model objects.
- Click the button Create. This will direct you to the details of the new role.
- Click the button next to Role and validate the permission set as Preset for new types.
- Click the button next to Users with this role to assign users to the role.
- Change the Permissions of the model objects you want to differ from the preset permission.
Notes:
- The role ‘Initial role’ is created at the initial creation of a workspace.
- Newly added users will be assigned to the role configured as the default.
- It is not permitted to remove a user’s last assigned role.
- If a user is assigned multiple roles, the highest permission to a model object is granted.
Change the role new users are assigned to *
When a user is added to a workspace, he will be assigned to the role marked as Default for new Users. The name of the corresponding role is presented after the text Default for new Users.
- In the workspace menu, click on Workspace settings.
- Click on the menu Roles.
- Hover on the role you want new users to be assigned to.
- Click on Set as default
Delete a Role from a Workspace *
- In the workspace menu, click on Workspace settings.
- Click on the menu Roles.
- Hover on the role you want to delete
- Click on the icon.
Notes:
- A role can not be deleted if there are users assigned to it.
* In the workspace, the user type of your user must be set to power user to enable this feature.
