Other than Relatics, information can be managed in external applications. Of these external applications, some do not support the exchange of information between applications (e.g. via an integration using an API and/or webservices). To be able to use information from these external applications in your project, the custom Relatics interface can be the solution, which uses files as a medium. Copy the information from the application into an Excel file and offer this data to Relatics, which interprets and converts it into elements that can be used in your project.

Configure an interface for manual import^*

1. In the workspace menu, click on Application integration.
2. In the Application integration overview, click on New interface. This opens a new dialog.
3. For the field Name, enter a singular noun that best represents the SE model object.
4. For the field Type element, select the desired type element.
5. For the field Type of external connection, select Generic.
6. For the field Generic type, select Manual.
7. For the field Upload format, select the desired format, such as Excel.
8. Click Create. The interface is created and ready to be used.

Upload a file^*

1. Create a file using the structure corresponding to the selected upload format.
2. In the workspace menu, click on Application integration.
3. In the Application integration overview, click on the interface.
4. Click the  Upload button on the right side of the Upload log. This will open a file select dialog.
5. Select the file and click on Open. When no problems are found, the file is converted into elements.

Note:

• Elements that do not have a matching row (no matching ExternalId) in the presented file are deleted.
