Settings overview of a type relation

For creating and updating a type relation, various settings can be configured. Below all the settings of the dialog Type relation settings are explained.

General settings for a type relation

Setting Explanation
Range  Select a value:

  • Standard: a relation to a single type element.
  • Collection: a relation to multiple type elements.
To type element  Select the type element to which the relation should be established. When the Range field is configured as Collection, select between two to five elements.
Criteria for allowed To elements Set one or more quality criteria on the relation. Click an existing criteria or the chip ‘Add creterion’ to open a new dialog to complete the configuration.

Note:

  • This setting is part of the quality rules.
  • Criteria for allowed To elements can only be updated for an existing type relation. 
Role Enter a meaningful name that describes the relation originating from the From element to the To element.
Reverse role Enter a meaningful name that describes the relation originating from the To element to the From element.
Cardinality Select a value:

  • Multi: More than one instance of the relation may be created.
  • Single: Only one instance of the relation may be created.

Advanced settings for a type relation

 

Setting Explanation
Existence of relation This setting is part of the quality rules.

Select a value:

  • not required: The existence of the relation is not required.
  • required: One or more type relations are required.
  • required in life cycle: One or more type relations are required in the state of the life cycle.
    • A new configuration field is activated where the life cycle states can be selected.
Data ownership in The data ownership in determines whether the type relation is owned by the workspace or that ownership of the type relation lies in another application:

  • Relatics: A type relation of which the corresponding workspace is the owner. Relations of the type relation can only be created in the corresponding workspace.
  • External application: A type relation of which an external application is the owner. Relations of the type relation can only be created in the external application.

Note:

  • A prerequisite is that the setting Data ownership in of the type element is set to External application.

Permissions settings for a type relation

Setting Explanation
[Role name] The role determines if a user with the corresponding role is allowed to edit or create the corresponding type relation.

Settings for criterion for allowed To elements

Setting Explanation
Criterion type Select a value:

  • Subtype of To element: A limited selection containing only the elements that match specific list property values
  • Circular dependency: A selection in which a sequence of relations determines the elements to be chosen.
To element Select the To-element this criterion applies to. When the relation has only one To-element the field is disabled.

Note:

  • The prerequisite is that the Criterion type must set to Subtype of To element.
Property Select a type property of the data type List that contains the values required for this criterion.

Note:

  • The prerequisite is that the Criterion type must set to Subtype of To element.
Values Select the property values an element must contain to qualify for the relation.

Note:

  • The prerequisite is that the Criterion type must set to Subtype of To element.
Circle to From element Select the type relation that completes the relation circle. This relation completes the path of relation originating from ist From-element.

Note:

  • The prerequisite is that the Criterion type must set to Circular dependency.
Existence Select a value:

  • Required: Only elements can be related that closes the circle.
  • Not allowed: Only elements can be related that doesn’t close the circle.

  • The prerequisite is that the Criterion type must set to Circular dependency.
