In this release our query engine is enriched to support querying across workspace boundaries. This makes it possible to retrieve information from other workspaces and combine it in, for example, a dasboard workspace with aggregated information.
In this release our query engine is enriched to support querying across workspace boundaries. Queries can follow the pointer-referent thread to retrieve information from other workspaces. In a pointer workspace, all information of the according referent element can be shown.
The query above crosses workspace boundaries when going from query nodes “Project member” to “Employee”. The query explicitly specifies the workspace to retrieve information from.
In a similar way, a query can be constructed to provide information from a referent perspective. In the example, the “Employee” workspace can show open activities per employee.
To cross workspace boundaries in a query, a pointer-referent connection between workspaces is not required. Even without Referencing applied, queries can retrieve information from other workspaces. For example, workspace ”Dashboard” only consists of queries that retrieve the high priority activities from different projects. Such a workspace serves as a dashboard for monitoring multiple projects.
